Yokosuka Saver Tiger - Emergency Express (CJHM)

Artist: Yokosuka Saver Tiger
Song: Emergency Express
Album: Devil Must Be Driven Out With Devil (compilation)
Year: 1986
Label: Hold Up

The legendary Devil Must Be Drive Out with Devil compilation featured many punk bands and most got mainstream exposure through the release, but the one heavy metal band they featured was Yokosuka Saver Tiger. In one of the clearest production works heard at the time, Saver Tiger blew away all expectations with their creative dual guitar leads and inventive solos. Although not much could be said about their English pronunciation skills, their instrumental work shines in this song.

  1. I am citing “Proto Heavy Metal” for question #3. This was really the first time I ever listened to this kind of music. It was not sonically resonate to me because I am used to a much more acoustic type of sound and much of this music is based in heavily electronic instruments. Even though I will not listen to this type of music, I found that I really enjoyed the song “You Really Got Me Now” by the Kinks.

  2. I cited your playlist for number three on task 7. I appreciated the honesty of your “Louder Than Hell” playlist. While I cannot personally relate to the sounds of Japanese Heavy Medal, specifically the pandemonium of the instruments, eerie voices, and strident guitar riffs, I was impressed by your ability to explain why the playlist was significant to you as well as your sincerity when admitting that this type of music is not the most popular on the billboard charts and does not resonate with everyone.

  3. I am citing your playlist for question #3 in task 7. This music does not sonically resonate with me because of the weird tones and this is very different from music that I would put into my personal audiotopia.

  4. I am using your Proto Heavy Metal playlist for question #3. Heavy metal is not music I can get into. It all sounds a little to on edge and angry for me. I don't like a lot of the harsh sounds they create with both their instruments and voices. And the lyrics don't cover topics I relate to or emotions I feel on a regular basis, so they music as a whole just doesn't do it for me.
